Ben and Mouse have a birthday

Today Ben and Mouse celebrated their 5th birthday and we were invited.

We see Ben and Mouse at greyhound walks and we are lucky that we have developed friendships with their humans and other humans/greyhounds who were at the party.

In total, 7 hounds attended the party – with no incidents including feeding them their own doggy birthday cake.

Daisy’s 14th birthday cake

Yesterday, Daisy reached the geriatric age of 14 – an achievement for any larger sized dog. We of course celebrated with a doggy birthday cake, which was a wheat-free apple and banana cake with a low fat cream cheese frosting.

I decorated the cake with a vintage Disney carousel ornament – the heat from the candles makes the carousel turn.

(Excuse the singing – it was the best I could do with a cold and sore throat)

Daisy’s birthday adventures

Today we woke up and went to the largest dog park in Christchurch, The Groynes. Although the sun was coming up, it was also showering and we saw a lovely rainbow settle over the park:

Daisy loves being off-lead and able to exhibit her natural dog instincts. She looks up to keep tabs on me often, but enjoys foraging around:

And tonight Daisy enjoyed a slice of her birthday cake for dessert. This cake is salmon and rice, with a lowfat cream cheese frosting, doggy choc drops and homemade chicken & parsley doggy treats:
